Yes! From 1 April 2025, airsoft grenades will be legal to use in Sweden without special authorisation, provided they are used in the right circumstances.
The new legislation allows the use of simulation articles in category P1, which includes airsoft grenades, without the need for a licence or training - as long as they are used in connection with airsoft or paintball activities.
This is the case:
✔ Airsoft grenades may be used
- On demarcated gambling areas, such as airsoft courts
- Under the supervision of a responsible organiser
- Where there is no public access during the game
✔ Storage of airsoft grenades
- Each person may store up to 1kg net of explosives without authorisation
- Airsoft fragmentation grenades contain only 1-3 grams of powder
- Smoke grenades usually contain 15-100 grams of gunpowder
- This means that you can easily store several grenades at home as long as the total quantity of gunpowder does not exceed 1 kg
